Flexibility of Yoga Pants

When you think of yoga you tend to think of contortion and bending the body into all kinds of strange postures, deep breathing, and deep thought but you may not consider yoga pants until the time you actually try to practice yoga yourself. That is when you realize it is pretty difficult to perform even the simplest maneuvers with just your typical clothing on or even clothing designed for other forms of exercise. You really need to have a pair of pants designed specifically for yoga. Bending and twisting your body combined with the meditative thought that goes along with yoga does wonders for the joints, ligaments and mind, but they wreak havoc on fabric especially if you are not wearing the write material designed for such a workout.

Yoga is all about contorting oneself and maintaining those positions so you need to own some very flexible, form-fitting yoga pants to give you the best experience possible and allow you the freedom move as needed without feeling the slightest bit of restriction. You can find cotton, cotton blends, and synthetic materials that are all going to hug tight to your body’s curves so that when you get into your yoga positions, the lines of your body are well defined and noticeable. These fabrics are used because they are durable and are going to feel comfortable on your skin.

Along with being comfortable to the touch, yoga pants need to allow your skin to breathe and absorb moisture. Even though you are not riding a bike or lifting weights, your body is still exerting energy and burning calories, so perspiration is certainly an issue and your skin needs to be allowed to breathe as you workout and practice. Yoga may be a low impact form of exercise but if you have ever done it then you know there is nothing easy about it and it takes a lot of energy to maintain position and to maintain position perfectly.

The main key with yoga pants is how much they will allow you to move, but that does not mean you are without a choice as far as style goes. You do have options and as you shop around you will probably be surprised by what is out there and the number of different looks available that you can achieve. You can find pants that have embroidery and stitching and even fairly elaborate designs and they will come in virtually any color you can imagine. If you find it necessary to match your pants to your mat then that will not be a problem. If you can not perform all the poses then at least you can look good trying.

While yoga pants are available in just about every color and with all kinds of designs there are still more choices for style that involve the way the leg is cut. One popular style is the bootleg cut which gives a little more freedom around the ankle and some women enjoy these because they at least free up a little of the restriction so you do not feel like your legs are being suffocated. There are capris styles, yoga pants that go all the way to the ankle (if you are taller than 5’10″ you will need to look for long yoga pants or tall yoga pants), cut off styles, styles that are basically just leggings, and many styles that are fashionable enough for you to feel comfortable wearing them from your home to the studio and while you run errands.
